Travel Day
After spending a few fun and relaxing days in Seattle, I was on my way to another summer spent in beautiful Rome. I always get a little worried about finding food I can eat at the airport but this bagel sandwich filled me up and got me ready for a long day of travel. On my second flight, America to Rome, I traded seats with an elderly woman that wanted a window seat for a great aisle seat: lots of leg room and right by the bathroom! Although I did not get any sleep, too anxious, I did get to watch a few good movies and enjoy a vegan meal and some wine on the airplane.
Raised in rural South Dakota but traveling frequently to places much different from home, I have been intrigued by the way people live from a very young age. I enjoyed dissecting and relating my perception of life to other people and the world around me. I began to understand and spend my time thinking about the beauty and complexity of everyday - the workings and organization of our spatial lives. As a designer, I believe it is my respondsibility to help progress and evolve design as a way of life that benefits all integral parts. From infrastructure systems that span across the entire United States, to the door handle on your kitchen oven, architecture effects how we live and the authenticity of the experience. I am passionate about design that integrates building and site, energy and resource efficient and insures a healthy environment for those who live and work there. I hope to carry an emotionally expressive and creative approach to design and lifestyle, celebrating the beauty of everyday.
